Our name reflects where we began. Our purpose continues to grow with the people we teach.
Our Story: The Founder’s Ikigai
Spreadsheet Magic began in 2023 with Excel and Carlo Carbonell’s search for his Ikigai: a way to connect what he loved, what he did well, and the difference he wanted to make.
Carlo had always been drawn to data, problem-solving, and finding better ways to work. Through his experience in operations, analytics, and learning and development, he saw how much time people spent navigating spreadsheets, organizing information, and repeating tasks their software could help simplify.
He found his Ikigai in bringing together his love for data, his experience improving work, and his passion for sharing knowledge. Teaching gave him a way to use those strengths to help others gain confidence and discover new possibilities.
That personal sense of purpose led him to establish Spreadsheet Magic.
What started with Excel grew into training across documents, presentations, collaboration platforms, data analysis, automation, and AI. In 2024, certification programs powered by Certiport added another pathway for learners to validate their skills.
Today, Spreadsheet Magic offers corporate training, public workshops, webinars, and certification programs that help people begin their quest to digital mastery.
Carlo’s Ikigai continues to guide the company’s work: making digital skills approachable, practical, and meaningful for the people who use them.

Meet Carlo Carbonell
Founder & Program Director | The Spreadsheet Wizard
Carlo brings more than a decade of experience in analytics, operations, quality assurance, and corporate learning across industries including telecommunications, logistics, marketing, e-commerce, and business process outsourcing.
His approach connects software skills with the realities of work: managing information, improving processes, supporting teams, and making decisions. His experience includes leading quality assurance and corporate learning teams, designing workflows, and helping organizations use data more effectively.
In 2016, he received the Innovation Hero Award for his work advancing customer experience in UK telecommunications.
For Carlo, teaching is a way to share what experience has taught him and help others discover what they are capable of doing. Seeing a learner move from uncertainty to understanding is what keeps that purpose alive.
